Raw Protein Balls - Nut Free, Soya Free

They may not look like much but these raw proteins balls are a great post gym snack, as well as being better for you than a chocolate bar. I love making them as this recipe is nut and soya free, which is quite hard to find when looking for them in your local supermarket. They take about 5 minutes to make and this recipe makes about 8 balls.

The Ingredients :
1 Tablespoon of Chia Seeds
1 Tablespoon of Raw Cocoa Power
1 Tablespoon of Coconut Oil
1 Tablespoon of Desiccated Coconut (Extra for Sprinkling)
1 Handful of Dates

STEP 1 - First of all you need to take 1 tablespoon of chia seeds and add 3 tablespoons of water and mix in a cup. Leave to one side for 1 minute and the water should soak into the seeds. This is called a chia egg.

STEP 2 - Next you want to take your dates and chop them into small pieces, then pop them into a blender with all the other ingredients (including the chia egg). If your mix is quite dry you can add a tablespoon of water to make it a little more wet.

STEP 3 - After that start rolling the mix into balls sized just smaller than a golf ball.

STEP 4 - Take a bowel with some desiccated coconut and roll the balls around in it, covering the entire outside. The coconut should stick easily to the balls because they will be a little tacky.

STEP 5 - Place all the finished protein balls into the fridge for them to set.

And that is it, If you wanted even more of a kick you could try adding a teaspoon of coffee to the mix for added caffeine. Not only delicious, these balls will stop your cravings as they are very filling.
